Concord, NH - It sounds impossible, but it’s true. In a survey recently taken down from his website, Eddie Edwards said he opposed a woman’s right to choose even in cases of rape and incest. That means a victim of sexual assault would be forced to have the child of their assailant. In a debate tomorrow hosted by NHPR’s ‘The Exchange,’ 1st Congressional District Democratic Candidate Chris Pappas will face off with Eddie Edwards. The voters of New Hampshire will eagerly await his explanation of this repugnant policy position that simply has no justification.
See the following statement from NHDP Chair Ray Buckley:
“Voters have a clear choice this November. They can elect Chris Pappas, a champion of women’s reproductive rights who restored Planned Parenthood funding for 13,000 women and men in New Hampshire. Or they can elect Eddie Edwards, whose stance on women’s reproductive rights is so extreme that he would rather force survivors of rape and incest to have their assailant’s children than give them the right to control their own bodies. The right to choose has come under attack in recent months, and the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court further jeopardizes nearly half a century of standing precedent. New Hampshire can’t afford Eddie Edwards’ backwards policies in Congress. If women and men in the Granite State are looking for a Representative who will protect their most basic freedoms in Congress, they should elect Chris Pappas.”
