NHDP Stands with News Organizations in NH and Across the Country to Defend Freedom of the Press

Concord, N.H. - In light of unprecedented anti-press attacks launched by President Donald Trump, the New Hampshire Democratic Party stands shoulder-to-shoulder with news organizations and editorial boards in New Hampshire and across the country. The coordinated effort, led by the Boston Globe, has sparked a response by “more than 300 news publications across the United States,”* including the Union Leader, Concord Monitor, Seacoast Online, Nashua Telegraph, and Valley News. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: “The freedom of the press, enshrined in the First Amendment, is a crucial component of any functioning democracy. The attacks that President Trump has launched on the press are dangerous, corrosive, and hint at a future where dissent isn’t tolerated, and the truth is hidden and manipulated by those in power. We proudly support the hundreds of newspapers across the country that, every day, bravely defy the pressure and intimidation of the President by sharing vertible information and stories that matter. Through their perseverance, voters will be able to make informed decisions on November 6 and stand up for the Democratic values we believe in.”
