NHDP Statement on Blankenbeker filing to run in Congressional District 2

Concord, N.H. - Today former State Representative Captain Lynne Blankenbeker officially filed to run for Congress in the Second Congressional District.

NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement: "With former State Representative Captain Lynne Blankenbeker's filing today, the race for the Second Congressional District gained a radical candidate for Congress most well-known for her outlandish and offensive remarks throughout her career. Blankenbeker became notorious for these statements after threatening to shoot union members if they messed with her and for questioning the validity of President Obama's assassination of Osama Bin Laden. Beyond these unhinged statements, Blankenbeker is a candidate dangerously stuck in the past. Her anti-worker agenda extends beyond her disrespect of unions to her abject opposition to a minimum wage. She's also been outspoken in her beliefs that women should not have access to quality and affordable health care including basic access to contraception. Blankenbeker's policies are not only radical, but would hurt Granite Staters in the Second Congressional District. Voters will be eager to reject her agenda and her candidacy in the fall."
