NHDP Statement on the Trump Shutdown

Concord, N.H. - NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement in reaction to Washington Republican leaders' decision to reject bipartisan efforts to avoid a government shutdown:

"President Trump and Republican leaders made history tonight by becoming the first ever party to shut down the government while holding all levers of power. At every turn, Trump & GOP leadership derailed bipartisan efforts to reach an agreement. In doing so, they chose dysfunction over working with Democrats to find common ground on combating the opioid crisis, strengthening the military, addressing CHIP and community health centers, and protecting DREAMers.

Instead of parroting Washington Republicans' debunked talking points, Governor Sununu needs to call on Trump, McConnell and Ryan to stop blocking efforts by members of both parties to reach a bipartisan deal."
