Concord, N.H. - In response to pressure around the passage of HB372 through the Republican-controlled New Hampshire Senate today, Governor Chris Sununu said he opposes the bill "as it is currently written."

NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement:

"What was once firm opposition to HB372 is turning into Governor Sununu's favorite pastime: having it both ways on every issue. It's clear that Sununu's statement is a signal to Republicans, who would only have to make cosmetic tweaks to the bill to give Sununu cover to support it. Sununu isn't afraid to commit to a veto on other legislation, but he is content to let college students twist in the wind after close-door meetings with Republicans, who are trying their best to talk the governor into yet another reversal on a key issue that affects Granite Staters. Why won't Sununu commit to a veto on the bill he claims to oppose?"
