GOP Senate passes tax increase for 70% of Granite Staters as Sununu cheers it on

Concord, N.H. - Tonight, the Republican-controlled Senate passed their version of the Trump tax reform bill. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "Republicans just voted to raise taxes for 70% of Granite Staters in order to pay for a massive tax cut for the wealthiest Americans and big corporations. They ignored study after study that said this bill would hurt working families, while some even admitted they were just voting yes to keep their donors happy. Make no mistake, this bill would be devastating for so many Americans. It promises to kick 13 million people off their health insurance and raise the deficit by $1 trillion. All of this stinks of the tax cuts that helped drive the U.S. economy into the greatest recession since the Great Depression. Governor Chris Sununu thinks that's 'phenomenal.' He's been behind this bill for day one, even though it raises taxes for 70% of New Hampshire taxpayers and eliminates state and local tax (SALT) deductions that benefit over 200,000 in the state. By supporting this bill, Sununu is choosing to raise taxes on his own constituents to fluff the pockets of his friends, donors & corporate special interests. New Hampshire voters will not soon forget his backwards priorities."
